Activities on & off the snow

Lech am Arlberg is a year-round destination with activity options on and off the snow. The main draw for many visitors to Lech am Arlberg is the incredible ski terrain on offer but beyond that there are many distractions to keep guests happy during the day and night. For corporate and group ski trips we have listed a number of options below:

Skiing

The Arlberg ski region is widely regarded as the best in Austria and with the Arlberg ski region now reaching to Warth in the North, the Lech – Zürs ski area is right in the heart of the region. As well as the skiing in Lech – Zürs visitors can ski in Warth, Stuben, St Christoph and St Anton on the same ski pass.

Après ski

Starting on the slope-side terraces of Oberlech, apres ski in Lech is a pretty refined affair. Recliners dot the edge of the ski piste in Oberlech and table service on the snow is offered for those laying back and enjoying the afternoon sun. A few hundred metres down the slopes and the riverside bars of Lech await with relaxed music and seriously good wine menus. This is not ski boots on tables apres ski but those lucky enough to be on the Lech slopes often finish off the day with a glass of indulgence.

Fantastic gondolas

Fantastic (formerly Cineastic) Gondolas is a film festival like no other with independent films shown in the mountains above Lech am Arlberg each December. The cable cars are turned into small theatres and at the top station, there are light shows, projections onto the white peaks, a larger movie theatre and an outdoor ice bar and DJ set. For those looking for some dancing, 1 of the 2 cable cars is given over to a DJ and a dance party sails high over the snowy peaks. Very different and seriously impressive.

Winter walking

For those wanting to escape the resort and immerse themselves in nature the winter walking trails that reach down the Zug valley from Lech am Arlberg are pretty special places. The trails are sign-posted and groomed and follow the river through forests and beneath incredible peaks. The nature in this area is magical and the silence offers a real sense of wilderness.

Christmas market

Spending time huddled around a fire basket in the Lech am Arlberg Christmas market on a frigid December evening is something truly memorable. The Christmas markets operate on weekends in the heart of the village and the atmosphere can be fantastic. The market is free to enter and there are stands selling diet destroying snacks and hot Glühwein. The Lech Christmas market is something not to miss.

Shopping

An absolute icon of Lech am Arlberg, Strolz has been serving guests for decades and the seriously high-end range of products offers great browsing possibilities. As well as offering sports equipment, Strolz also offers exclusive label Alpine fashion and accessories.

Heli-skiing

There is no greater experience for advanced skiers and snowboarders than heli-skiing. Lech – Zurs is the only destination in Austria that offers heli-skiing with flights taking off from the Lech ski area the Flexen Pass in Zurs am Arlberg. Groups of 3 (plus 1 certified guide) fly to remote peaks and ride down some incredible powder terrain. For off-piste skiers and snowboarders this is one not to miss.

Snow golf

In the stunning surroundings of the Zug valley the fairways are laid out and golfers shoot orange golf balls around a 9 hole course. The clubhouse is an outdoor bar with tables, chairs and the obligatory sheepskin rugs to warm the legs. Snow golf is a truly novel experience in a wonderfully beautiful setting.

Gastronomy

Whether on the mountain or in the resort, gastronomic delights are easy to find in Lech am Arlberg. The choice between the hotels is extensive and many visitors make their way around the resort on a gastronomic tour.
